How Techtamu Supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals in Malaysia

Techtamu supports selected United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through technology education, industry knowledge-sharing, innovation, economic opportunities and ecosystem partnerships across Malaysia. Our programmes are primarily aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

What Are the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals?

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, are 17 global goals created to support a more inclusive, sustainable and resilient future by 2030. They cover key areas such as quality education, economic growth, innovation, reduced inequalities, climate action, strong communities and global partnerships.

Adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the SDGs provide a shared framework for governments, businesses, organisations and communities to contribute towards positive social, economic and environmental impact.

How Techtamu Determines Its SDG Alignment

Techtamu identifies its Sustainable Development Goal alignment by reviewing the objectives, activities and outcomes of the programmes we organise or co-organise. We focus only on SDGs that have a clear and relevant connection to our work in technology education, industry engagement, innovation, economic opportunities and ecosystem collaboration in Malaysia.

Our alignment is guided by four key considerations:

Programme Relevance

We assess whether the purpose and content of each programme directly relate to the objectives of a specific UN Sustainable Development Goal.

Real Activities and Evidence

Our SDG alignment is supported by actual initiatives, including technology meetups, industry knowledge-sharing sessions, community programmes, partnerships and opportunities created for participants.

Community and Industry Impact

We consider how our programmes contribute to knowledge access, professional development, innovation, industry connections and collaboration within Malaysia’s technology ecosystem.

Alignment with Official SDG Objectives

Where relevant, we refer to the official United Nations SDG goals and targets to ensure that our stated alignment reflects the intended purpose of each Sustainable Development Goal.

Techtamu's Primary SDG Alignment

Based on our current programmes and activities, Techtamu primarily supports:

SDG 4: Quality Education Through Technology Knowledge Sharing

Techtamu contributes to SDG 4 by creating accessible opportunities for students, developers, founders and members of the technology community to learn directly from industry practitioners.

SDG 8: Supporting Skills, Careers and Economic Opportunities

Through its technology community programmes, Techtamu creates opportunities for participants to gain industry exposure, develop professional connections, discover business opportunities and learn from founders, employers and technology practitioners.

SDG 9: Advancing Technology, Innovation and Digital Ecosystems

Innovation is central to Techtamu's programmes. Our events bring together builders and industry practitioners working across software development, artificial intelligence, IoT, digital infrastructure, AgriTech, SpaceTech and other emerging technology sectors.

SDG 17: Building Partnerships Across Malaysia's Tech Ecosystem

Techtamu works with technology companies, government-related organisations, universities, community groups, venue partners and ecosystem organisations to expand access to technology knowledge and strengthen collaboration across Malaysia.
