Techtamu is a Malaysian technology community bringing together developers, founders, industry professionals, students and businesses through technology meetups, knowledge sharing and meaningful connections.
What began as a simple idea in Cyberjaya has grown into a community connecting people, industries and opportunities across Malaysia. And there's still so much more to build.
There was a time when Cyberjaya felt like a second home to our founder.
Living nearby in Putrajaya, he would often find himself at MaGIC, attending technology meetups, discovering new ideas and meeting people who shared the same passion for building things.
It was more than just attending events. It was about being surrounded by people who understood your excitement about technology, where a simple conversation could lead to a new idea, a collaboration or an unexpected opportunity.
But somewhere along the way, something changed.
Many technology community events seemed to be happening in Kuala Lumpur, while meetups closer to home in Cyberjaya became harder to find.
He missed having that space.
Then came a simple thought.
Why wait for someone else to build it?
That question became the beginning of Techtamu.
What started as an effort to bring technology meetups back to Cyberjaya soon found its way into different cities, communities and conversations across Malaysia.
And along the way, we discovered that what brought us together in the first place could become something much bigger.
The world of technology is far bigger than any single industry, programming language or emerging trend.
Beyond artificial intelligence and software development, there are people transforming agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing, finance, infrastructure and countless other industries through technology.
We believe their stories deserve to be heard too.
Techtamu brings these different worlds into the same conversation, creating a space where technology builders, founders, businesses and industry professionals can exchange knowledge, challenge perspectives and discover opportunities beyond their usual circles.
We also believe these conversations should have room for Bahasa Melayu.
Not because we want to limit who can join us, but because we believe people should have more ways to participate in Malaysia's technology community. While English-language technology events are common, conversations in our national language deserve their own space too.
Technology belongs to no single industry, language or background.
And neither should the community around it.
We started by bringing people together in a room.
But we have never believed that the value of a great conversation should end when everyone goes home.
Inspired by how TED has brought knowledge and ideas to audiences far beyond the stage, we want technology conversations to travel further, reach more people and continue creating value long after an event ends.
Through Techtamu Record, recorded talks and our growing community initiatives, we are finding new ways to share the voices, stories and knowledge of people building technology.
And while our roots will always be in Cyberjaya, our aspirations have never been limited to one place or one way of doing things.
There is still much we want to explore, create and contribute. Some things will take time. Others will take the right people coming together at the right moment.
For now, we will continue doing what started this journey.
Bringing people together. Creating opportunities. Giving technology builders a place to be seen, heard and connected.
Because in the end, our ambition has never been about how many events we can organise.
It is about what becomes possible when a community has the connections, knowledge and opportunities to build something greater together.
There are more people to meet, more ideas to discover and more opportunities waiting to be created.
Whether you're a technology builder, founder, industry professional or simply someone who believes in what technology can make possible, we'd love for you to be part of what comes next.
Majulah pembangun teknologi negara!
